After all the kerfluffle regarding Kos‘s internet poll, we do have actual scientific polls. I’ll just say one thing about the internet poll run here — it’s fun, but not scientific, and you just can’t “cheat” a non-scientific poll. It’s a game we like to play, but should not be taken so seriously that people freak out.
Moving on. Morning Consult has a poll out. I don’t know their 538 score and those who follow such things can debate in the comments. But this is a random poll and not of self-selected people like the Daily Kos poll.
KEY TAKEAWAYS / 03.05.191.
Joe Biden Remains in Front – Joe Biden receives 31% of the vote, followed by Bernie Sanders, who now receives 27%, and Kamala Harris who comes in third at 11%.
2. Holder Won’t Leave Behind Much Potential Support – Eric Holder announced he won’t be running for president. In this latest poll he received just 1% of the vote share.
3. Sanders Fares Worse With High-Income Democrats – Among Democrats making $100k or more, Sanders gets 19% of the vote. Among those making less than $50k, he receives 30% of the vote.
Morning Consult
Warren and O’Rourke have 6% and Booker has 5%.
I’m not shocked that Bernie does less well with those making over $100,000. But he does get some support, and those folks are able to vote against what might be assumed to be their class interest. Good for them.

Update I: Rob from Vermont makes a good point in the comments:
I know by “it’s a game we like to play” you are saying the straw poll itself is fun, i.e. it’s human nature to enjoy seeing your favorite candidate win a poll, even an unscientific one. However, I think some folks might misinterpret “It’s a game we like to play” as a reference to individuals voting multiple times which (supposedly) distorted the last straw poll.
I’d also like to just mention that with regard to “freeping” — which is simply an organized effort by supporters to vote in online polls — this practice is endorsed by Markos himself, as he wrote in his straw poll analysis 2 weeks ago
He’s correct. I meant it is fun but meaningless. For the record, I only vote once. And Kos wants people to come from all over to vote in it. I think he wants them to come and stay.
But when I say it’s a game, I mean it’s like a fun toy. Fun to see who wins the poll and vote in it, but ultimately without much meaning. If vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream faced off in the Kos poll (all other flavors having been relegated), would it really mean much of anything if a self selected group voted in strawberry?
I can see it now, the Daily Kos ice cream wars.
